Nonce Upon a Time

Listener Michael Zarky dished up some thoughts on our round of nonce words from Palo Alto (SY-2028):

Of course as a child I wouldn’t have noticed that a word in The Owl and the Pussycat had no real meaning. But, looking it up now, I discover that it really has none. All the other meanings that have been tacked on to it after Lear used it several times are not consistent with the drawing he made. So it wasn’t really fair to ask for a meaning of it – anything goes, they are all a posteriori.

Tom Bergeron with Says You in San Bernardino!

San Bernardino with Tom Bergeron! on June 25. Yes, Tom Bergeron, Emmy award winner and host of Dancing with the Stars will be reuniting with his long-time friends to play Says You! Like most of the cast, Tom is a Boston boy and got his start locally at WBZ –TV hosting and anchoring where the rest of our gang was at one time or another gainfully employed. By the 90’s Tom chose a bi-coastal lifestyle becoming the face and heart of America’s Funniest Home Videos, Hollywood Squares, and – of course – Dancing with the Stars. Our one concern is that Tom used to work as a mime, someone should be sure to tell him Says You! is radio.
